FUND RAISING


The United Way of the Klamath Basin 2011 annual fund raising campaigns raised $751,000 for 99% of its $760,000 goal. The 2011 annual fund drives include the United Way Community Campaign, the Klamath & Lake Counties Combined Federal Campaign, and the State of Oregon Employee Charitable Campaign. Contributions to United Way are accepted year-round and are tax-deductible. See Community Campaign link for 2011-12 leadership team, goals, results, timeline, special events, etc. Mitch Stokes, branch manager of Northwest Farm Credit Services, in Klamath Falls chaired the 2011 United Way Community Campaign. The campaign announced its final results on January 24, 2012. The $751,000 raised represented $28,000 or a 3.9% increase over the reported 2010 campaign results. Thank You everyone for your support.

The 12th annual United Way Community Golf Challenge was held Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Harbor Links Golf Course. Event founder and organizer was Kent Pederson of Carter Jones Collections Service. All of the net proceeds benefit United Way's many agency program services. The cost was $75 per person, includes cart, lunch, golf balls, and raffel tickets. About $5,700 net profit resulted from the golf challenge. The 13th annual golf challenge will also be held at Harbor Links on Saturday, September 22nd. Corporate sponsors are needed. Call United Way to help.

Individuals wishing to donate gifts of stock, real estate, life insurance policies, or establish a donor restricted fund should view the Planned Giving link and call Leroy Cabral, United Way executive director at 541.882.5558. Approximately 65 percent of all contributions to our United Way are donated by employees at the workplace who pledge a portion of their paycheck each pay period. Cash and checks are always welcome. Our United Way is registered to accept stock transfers at South Valley Wealth Management. Memorial gifts to honor beloved friends and family are also accepted. The United Way Leadership Giving KEY Club encourages annual gifts of $1,000 or more to the United Way. In 2011, there were 92 individuals who joined the KEY Club and contributed a total of $177,200 for an average gift of $1,926. While every gift to United Way is important and appreciated, leadership gifts are vital and represent 23.7% of United Way's total campaign funds raised.
