FUND RAISING
The United Way of the Klamath Basin 2007 annual fund raising campaigns raised 99.3% of its $900,000 community goal. The 2008 campaign goal is $915,000 and is chaired by Hal Sturgeon, operations manager of South Valley Bank & Trust. This goal includes the United Way Community Campaign, the Klamath & Lake Counties Combined Federal Campaign, and the State of Oregon Employee Charitable Campaign. Contributions are accepted year-round and are tax-deductible. See Community Campaign link for 2008 leadership team, goals, timeline, special events, etc.The 8th annual United Way Community Golf Challenge will be held on Saturday, October 11th at Reames Golf and Country Club. Event organizer is Kent Pederson of Carter Jones Collections Service. The event is open to the public. The cost is $60 per person which includes lunch, green fees, and raffle tickets. More than $4,000 of prizes are raffled each year. Corporate sponsors are encouraged. All of the proceeds benefit United Way's 16 member agency program services.
Individuals wishing to donate gifts of stock, real estate, life insurance policies, or establish a donor restricted fund should view the Planned Giving link and call Leroy Cabral, United Way executive director at 541.882.5558. Approximately 65 percent of all contributions to our United Way are donated by employees at the workplace who pledge a portion of their paycheck each pay period. Cash and checks are always welcome. Our United Way is registered to accept stock transfers at South Valley Wealth Management. Memorial gifts to honor beloved friends and family are also accepted.

The United Way Leadership Giving KEY Club encourages annual gifts of $1,000 or more to the United Way. In 2007, there were 88 individuals who joined the KEY Club and contributed a total of $151,517. Marcella, Kendall and John Bell chaired the 2007 KEY Club.
